Fees

The first conversation is free. So is the assessment that follows it.

The first financial commitment is a written proposal with the fee stated in it, scoped to what the assessment found. Nothing begins before you have agreed to that document.

Questions we are asked

What happens after my email arrives?
A member of the firm reads it and replies, usually within one business day. Active crises are triaged ahead of everything else, so if your matter is urgent, telephone rather than write.
Does the first conversation cost anything?
There is no charge and no obligation attached to it. It exists so both of us can establish whether there is a matter worth taking, which is a question we would rather answer before you spend money.
What if you think I do not need you?
We will say so. It happens regularly: material that is decaying on its own, a situation where acting would amplify it, or a matter that needs a lawyer rather than us. That is a legitimate outcome of a first conversation.
Can we sign an NDA first?
Yes. Say so in your message and we will send a mutual agreement before discussing anything substantive.
What does this cost?
The first conversation is free, and so is the assessment that follows it. You receive a written proposal with the fee in it before any work begins, scoped to what the assessment establishes. There is no standard price because there is no standard matter, which is why the assessment comes before the number.
