Family Offices
The objective here is frequently absence rather than presence.
RMG Digital Solutions is a private reputation advisory in Harrison, New York. We restore and enhance how people and companies appear in search results and AI answers.
Family offices invert the usual objective. Most clients want to be found accurately. A principal frequently wants not to be found at all, and where that is no longer possible, wants the findable record to be accurate, minimal, and stable. Publishing more material, which is the standard proactive intervention, is often exactly wrong: it creates surface area. The correct approach is usually reduction and control.
The scope is also different. The record belongs to more than one person: it includes a principal, a spouse, adult children, sometimes minors, several operating entities, a foundation, and the historical record of a business that may have been sold decades ago. Material about any of them can affect all of them. And the confidentiality problem is structurally larger: a family office typically has existing legal, tax, and security advisers, so the same standard has to hold across more people and more advisers at once, without duplicating or contradicting them.
See an exampleWhy this behaves differently
-
The objective may be absence
Reduction and control rather than visibility. Publishing more can be precisely the wrong intervention.
-
Multi-generational scope
Principal, spouse, adult children, minors, entities, and a foundation. Material about one affects the others.
-
Discretion standards are stricter
Discretion is a condition of engagement here rather than a preference, and it shapes how the work is conducted and reported.
What usually applies
-
Presence Architecture
Controlling what is connected to what, and ensuring the minimal record that exists is accurate and authoritative.
-
Content Removal
Reducing surface area where a legitimate basis exists, including data broker and aggregator entries.
-
Monitoring
Standing review across every name and entity in scope, with an agreed escalation threshold.
An example
The mandate is less visibility, not more.
A principal’s name has collected surfaces that are accurate in pieces and wrong as a picture: a long-sold operating company still attached to the name, a gift described as if it were a current product, directory pages that make a private office look like an open firm. AI answers do what thin sources invite. They assemble a public business out of leftover language.
Search suggests a shop that takes inbound, run by someone who still runs the old company, the opposite of how the office is designed. Nothing on those pages has to be false to be a problem. Association is enough.
The work is subtraction and separation. Sold is labeled sold. Dates go back on events that search has flattened into the present. Directory claims that can be withdrawn are withdrawn. Nothing new is published to fill the space. The aim is a name that no longer completes into the former company, an office that is not advertised, and a public record reduced to what the family actually has.
Quiet is the point.

Can you reduce what data brokers hold?
Substantially, though not permanently, because brokers repopulate from public sources, so this is maintenance rather than a one-time removal. We will be clear about which entries can be taken down and which will return.
